NK63 Solar Power Bug Zapper Review
The NK63 zapper is a rather unique product. First off, most zappers require being plugged into an outlet to operate. While the NK63 does come with a cord for outlet-based charging, it also features an integrated solar panel that collects energy from the sun to power the unit at night.
Secondly, almost all bug zappers can only be positioned by hanging them via a plastic or metal handle located at the top of the device. The NK63 solar insect zapper can be hung, but it also comes with a stake which allows the unit to be placed in the ground as well. So, there are a couple of different options for placement with this gadget.
This insect zapper also has 8 bright LED lights built-in that can be used to light up a garden, patio, or even a walkway. So, the unit effectively functions as both a solar bug zapper and garden light for any outdoor area.
Here’s everything you get with your purchase:
(1) Lamp Head
(1) Mini Brush
(1) User Manual
This Sandalwood solar powered bug zapper is capable of eliminating pesky insects including flies, mosquitoes, and other winged nuisances. It has an effective range of up to 3000 square feet, which is plenty to cover most average backyards, gardens, patios, and porches.
Solarize Your Bugs With The NK63 Solar Bug Zapper Bundle

Take Back Your Yard With Solar Power
However, Amazon has already rated this solar power bug zapper as the #1 new release in Patio, Lawn and Garden
On Amazon, roughly 27 people have purchased and reviewed the device. From those evaluations the N63 has received a 4.5 out of 5 star rating, which is a very respectable score.
Here’s a summary of what consumers think of this zapper:
- Pleasant to Look At
- Eliminates Flies & Mosquitoes
- Easy to Clean
- Small and Lightweight
- Much Safer than Chemicals
- Sturdy Construction
- Solar-Power Option
- LED Light isn’t Very Bright
- Can’t Kill Bigger Bugs
Really the only complaints that have been made about this solar insect killer so far are that the LED lamp lights aren’t as bright as some people had hoped and that it’s unable to kill insects larger than flies or mosquitoes.
The lighting issue is a little disappointing, but it is primarily meant to be used as a bug zapper, not a light.
Other than those couple of small disappointments, this is a very well-built, effective zapper. It’s actually kind of cute, too, compared to similar products.
Plus, it’s sold for a reasonable price and, in the long run, will save you money thanks to the solar charging feature.

Effective Bug Elimination
The Sandalwood N63 zapper uses a powerful, ultraviolet lamp to attract annoying bugs to its electricity field where it quickly ends their existence with a jolt of energy. Disposing of dead bugs is a snap, too. All you have to do is slide out the tray located at the bottom of the unit, discard deceased insects, and slide it back in.
The device operates rather quietly, too. Unlike similar products, you won’t hear the steady hum of the electricity surging through the lamp. The only time you’ll likely hear anything is when an unlucky bug falls victim to the lure of the light. Even then you’ll only hear a quick zap. That sound is a good thing, too, because then you know it’s doing it’s job!
Sandalwood has confirmed that this device is primarily intended to be used against smaller pests such as flies and mosquitoes. The company states that they cannot guarantee effectiveness against larger insects such as bees or wasps.
Charging and Battery Life
According to the manufacturer, the Sandalwood N63 solar bug zapper is able to be charged either via the on-board solar panel or the included UL charger. The company strongly recommends fully charging the device before using it for the first time.
They also state that on a full charge the unit can last up to 15 hours while in zapper mode and up to 30 continuous hours in the LED lighting mode.
Worried about leaving your new bug zapper on through the night and have it still running in the morning, consuming energy when it isn’t necessary?
Well, the NS3 Solar Powered UV Bug Zapper & LED Garden Lamp actually solves this problem by itself. Using an integrated ambient-light sensor the unit turns itself on at dusk and then automatically shuts off at dawn.
